Kenya Railways Corporation Managing Director Philip Mainga and another senior official at the State firm face contempt proceedings, the Daily Nation reported. They are accused of moving railway scrap metal for disposal after a court ordered them to stop.

The Centre for Litigation Trust (CLT) filed the application at the High Court in Kisumu. It says the two officials ignored orders issued on October 29. According to the Nation, those orders barred them from removing, transporting, selling or disposing of railway scrap, sleepers, rails and other railway materials.

The Nation did not name the second official. The report carries no response from Kenya Railways or from Mainga. It also does not say when the court will hear the application.
