Safaricom's mobile money platform M-Pesa has earned more than KSh100 billion in a single half-year for the first time, Business Today Kenya reported. The figure comes from the telco's Half-Year 2027 results, released on Thursday.

Crossing the KSh100 billion mark is a milestone for M-Pesa. It shows how much of Safaricom's business now runs through mobile money rather than calls and data alone.

According to Business Today Kenya, profit attributable to shareholders rose 35.9% to KSh58.20 billion. That beat the analysts' forecast of KSh54.32 billion by KSh3.88 billion. Group service revenue grew 13.1% to KSh226.10 billion, the outlet said.

Business Daily reported a different profit figure. It said Safaricom's half-year profit rose 72% to Sh50 billion. The two outlets may be measuring profit in different ways. Neither published report explains the gap.

Business Today Kenya said the results underline the growing strength of Safaricom's combined telecoms and financial services business. M-Pesa now accounts for a bigger share of the company's earnings, it added.
