The Nairobi County Government has started an end-term evaluation of its 2025/2026 Performance Contracts, Capital FM reported via AllAfrica. The review will assess performance across all county departments and sectors. City Hall says the aim is to strengthen accountability and to ensure public resources deliver tangible benefits to residents.

The Directorate of Performance Management, under the Office of the County Secretary, is running the exercise. Festus Macharia is coordinating the countywide evaluation. James Njeru is serving as deputy coordinator.

Evaluators will verify the achievements that departments have reported. They will also identify problems in implementation. The team will establish whether each department met its performance targets and delivered on its commitments. It will also examine how effectively public resources were used. The evaluation team says it is emphasising measurable results and evidence-based accountability.

Njeru said the county was shifting from reporting promises to measuring real-world impact for Nairobi residents.

So far, 14 core sectors have been evaluated, according to the report. These include Health, Mobility and Works, Disaster Management, Urban Planning and Digital Economy. The team is expected to move next to the Finance and Economic Planning Affairs Sector as the exercise nears completion.

The findings will feed into the county's final institutional performance rating. That rating is expected to give an overview of how departments performed in the 2025/2026 financial year. Capital FM reported that the review is part of wider City Hall efforts to strengthen performance management and improve service delivery. It also aims to keep county departments accountable for the commitments made to Nairobi residents.
