Iran warned on Sunday that a renewed war with the United States could last longer than the previous round of fighting. Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said the US president "would not be in a position to dictate the timing or the conditions of its conclusion". He was quoted by Iranian state television, New Vision reported.
The warning followed remarks by President Donald Trump, who suggested the US could quickly strike its remaining targets in Iran. Speaking to reporters at his Florida residence, Trump said there were still "one or two sites" to deal with. He said this could be done "in 10 minutes". He named Pickaxe Mountain, which New Vision described as a suspected underground nuclear complex.
Tanzania's Mwananchi reported that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had ordered army commanders to update a list. Full details were not available. The paper's headline quoted Iran as warning it would strike hard "regardless of borders" if provoked again.
The war began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, New Vision reported. In its most intense phase, Tehran answered with missile and drone attacks across the region. Iran-aligned armed groups joined the fighting in Lebanon and Yemen.
Diplomatic efforts to end the war have been interrupted by repeated US and Israeli threats to resume bombing, the report said. Both countries are holding crucial elections.
