About 10 fighters from the Convention for the Popular Revolution (CRP) militia attacked a position of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) on Thursday morning. The post is at Bule-centre in Djugu territory, Ituri province. Radio Okapi reported the attack, citing security sources.

According to the security sources, the attackers were trying to resupply with weapons and ammunition. The two sides exchanged fire. When the fighting ended, four bodies were found: three militiamen and one FARDC soldier.

Seven other CRP militiamen were seriously wounded. Their fellow fighters carried them to the health post at the Plaine Savo displacement site, where Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) works. After the operation, the army recovered two PKM weapons, four ammunition belts and two Motorola radios, the security sources said.

The fighting also disrupted daily life in Bule-centre. Human rights activists in the area said schools and shops had closed for fear of reprisals.
