Athletics Kenya (AK) announced its 2026-2027 competition calendar on Thursday. It covers cross-country, track and field, road running, mountain running and other events in Kenya and abroad.

AK said the season opened on October 24 with the first Athletics Kenya Cross Country Weekend Meeting. It was held at Machakos Teachers Training College. The series will move to other venues as athletes prepare for national championships, continental competitions and other major events.

The calendar includes the National Cross Country Championships, the Kenya National Championships and national trials for major international events. It also lists several road races and community athletics activities. AK said these aim to boost participation and develop talent across the country.

Internationally, AK said Kenyan athletes will target the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China, and the African Games in Cairo, Egypt. They will also compete in other continental and global events. The federation said it will work with its affiliates, event organisers and other stakeholders to grow athletics in Kenya.
