A Tanzanian parliamentary committee has urged the state-owned Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) to reach more small-scale farmers, Mwananchi reported on Saturday. The recommendation came from Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Investments (PIC) in Dar es Salaam.

The committee also praised the bank for its stronger performance, HabariLeo reported. According to HabariLeo, TADB raised its dividend to the government from TSh 500 million to TSh 8.4 billion. The outlet said this shows the bank is managing and using public capital more productively.

HabariLeo also said the bank intends to reach small-scale farmers. The available reports do not say how TADB plans to do this or how many farmers it serves now. They also do not say when the committee's recommendations are due to take effect.
