Property firm Realta Investment Limited has raised the alarm over 'famas' mining in Mai Mahiu, Business Today Kenya reported. The firm's directors say the mining is degrading the environment in the area.

According to the outlet, four directors left Kikuyu town early on Sunday, October 11. They travelled to the Zambezi area of Mai Mahiu in Naivasha North to locate the beacons of a five-acre parcel. Business Today Kenya said the routine land inspection turned into a confrontation with environmental degradation.

The available material does not say who is behind the mining, how much land is affected or whether the authorities have responded.
