The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested a man it says posed as a traffic police officer to rob bank customers. The DCI named the suspect as Muia Mutune, also known as Fredrick Mbuta, Nairobi Wire reported. Detectives picked him up in Embakasi Village.

Police say the gang struck soon after victims withdrew cash from banks. The arrest followed investigations into a series of robberies targeting unsuspecting victims, according to Nairobi Wire.

Detectives from the Operation Action Team (OAT) and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) made the arrest, the DCI said in a statement. They used intelligence gathering and forensic analysis to identify four key suspects linked to the robberies, The Eastleigh Voice reported. The sources do not say whether the other three have been arrested. Nor do they say when Mutune will be charged.
