Tanzanian Bongo Fleva star Nandy says her new look comes from exercise, a disciplined diet and body shapers, not surgery. She told Mwananchi she has never taken even two weeks off, while recovery from surgery takes weeks or months.

Tanzanian singer Nandy has denied claims that she had cosmetic surgery to change her body shape. The Bongo Fleva star told Mwananchi that her new look comes from exercise, a disciplined diet and special body-shaping belts.

Nandy said people who claim she had surgery do not understand how long recovery takes. Such procedures require three weeks or even two months at home without work, she said, and some people need up to six months. She said she has never taken a break of even two weeks. "It's exercise and food, but it's also growth. I have given birth, I have to change," she said, according to Mwananchi.

The singer also described her eating routine. She said she does not deny herself the foods she likes, but stops eating at a set time each night. "I eat everything, but once it hits 8pm I don't eat any more," she said. She added that she owns many body shapers of different types and likes wearing them. Wearing them takes commitment, she said, because they are very tight.

Nandy also spoke about becoming a mother. She said motherhood was not a reason to quit music. She credited courage, close support from her team and her home life for helping her through that period. It was her first time as a mother, she said, and she wanted to set a good example. Her management made sure everything ran smoothly, she added, and being married to a fellow musician may also have helped.

Nandy also admitted that she sometimes forgets her own songs during shows. Sometimes she gets on stage and realises she left a song off her setlist, she said. At other times, she forgets some of the lyrics.
