The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has confirmed that sugarcane farmers will elect their Kenya Sugar Board representatives on November 24, 2026. The notice, reported by the Eastleigh Voice and Business Today, is dated Friday, October 30.

Elections Committee Chairperson Harun Khator signed the notice, according to the Eastleigh Voice. It said the final voters' register is on the Board's website and displayed at designated facilities. The notice cited Rule 9(7) of the Procedure for Election of Grower Representatives to the Kenya Sugar Board, 2025.

The notice said the election will follow "the applicable governing legal framework and court orders." The Committee said it remains committed to a lawful electoral process.

Growers will fill five representative positions on the Board. Section 6 of the Sugar Act No. 11 of 2024 sets out the Board's membership and how growers' representatives are elected.

The process began on May 12, 2026, according to the Eastleigh Voice. That day, the Committee invited applications from interested people in the sugar catchment areas. A notice on August 7 extended the application period. On August 20, the Committee published the final list of candidates.

With the candidates' list and the voters' register now public, attention has shifted to preparations for the November 24 vote. The elected representatives will speak for growers' interests and concerns on the Board, the Eastleigh Voice reported.
